Aldis slide projector

£5 on ebay and a trip to Hullbridge to collect the worlds heaviest case later, and i got myself this big ol' beauty.

So I put together some negatives and popped them in some slides to get experimenting with my final idea  of a projector show. Now because this isn't a carrousel projector, it doesn't hold more than two slides at once. With two slides mounted (as in the pic above) you have to manually move them and load the next slides.
The other add on this has is a film reel holder. You attach a reel of photographic film (35mm) like you would if you were loading an analog film camera. Then you twist the other side and the film moves across the light and each image is seen. This way is a bit messier, and depending on who twists the film, depends on how smooth and how long you see each image.
If that made no sense, i filmed it too.

This is the film reel one. Listen out for the gorgeous click as the film falls off at the end.

This is the mounted slides.
You can hear me changing each one over. Apologies for the poor quality filming.

I still have yet to try out black and white film and these aren't my final images, but i just got so darn excited when i finally picked this up today that i had to get started with trying it out.
I'm going to name it Derek after the guy i bought it off. He told me the history of the machine, it used to be used at the Natural History Museum, in the Earth gallery, now called the green zone. When newer technology came in, the old analog stuff was a free for all for the staff, where Derek took it home.

After years of no use, it's finally going back to it's original purpose; science and shit.
