The one and only Stefan Sagmeister.
Saggs, to his mates.
Probably.
First introduced to me by my better half, Jesse, back on foundation degree at Camberwell. We ploughed through his books. We laughed, we squirmed, we admired and never forgot the day we decided; one day my work will stand this strong.
I've stumbled upon him once again whist looking at symbolism and information graphics.
Here's some examples of the stuff I'm talking about.
If you can get access to it, either in the book 'Sagmeister' or online, please take all of 3 minutes to read "Socko". Using symbols and pictograms (like above) with witty and amusing narrations, he compiles a quirky story that illustrates any creatives mind's run of amusing and often crude personal narrations to the array of pictograms and symbols that bombard our over-designed city.
It's funny. Even if graphics aint yo' thing.
Here's a few snippits.
And thats just scratching the surface.
"Socko" is still my favourite because of it's simplicity and found sources. It's not contrived, over planned and calculated. It's vague, it doesn't make total sense and it's eye catching.
Plus he did this when he was at college.
